What does 1RM (One Rep Maximum) mean?

One rep maximum (or 1RM) is an estimate of your best possible single rep lift for an exercise.

Why use 1RM?

1RM is helpful as a single number to use when comparing different sets across workouts.

Many workout programs are based on a percentage of your 1RM as you progress, rather than giving specific weights to use.

1RM Formula and Accuracy

We use the Brzycki formula to estimate your 1RM. Note that 1RMs are always estimates.

For reps above 12, 1RM estimations will break down significantly and will likely not reflect real world performance.
